FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY CHEYENNE WY | The Carter Family

When looking for family photography Cheyenne WY has many, many, MANY options. We are always so appreciative when families choose us to photograph their loved ones and capture them as they are in this moment. In the case of The Carter family however this was extra special. Jimmy and his wife Andi have been our good friends for some time now. We all attend Laramie Valley Chapel together and we actually knew Jimmy first before he had even met Andi. We were tasked with teaching him photography so that he would be able to capture ministry for the church. It was so much fun getting to know him and he continued to be important to our family as he taught The Bible Institute. This was a one year program where every morning from 6-8 am, you are led through the Bible line by line really delving deep into God’s word.

Fast forward and after meeting and falling head over heels for one another, we had the privilege of photographing their engagement photos as well as documenting their wedding. I guess you could say we were definitely THEIR photographers. These two know what it means to have someone document their most important people and most important moments which is exactly why they were SO excited to gift a session to Jimmy’s parents. Their family had not had professional photos taken in some time. When looking for family photography Cheyenne WY has so many options and it can really be a daunting task, to be gifted a session and have the choice made for you was probably a treat for sure!

For this families session we headed South to Fort Collins, CO. For family photography Cheyenne WY has a lot of tall grasses, wide open country and sagebrush galore. We liked this location because it had a feel like that of WY, but zero wind and that gorgeous Colorado sunshine! We took photos of their entire family, broke down into smaller family groups and even photographed Jimmy and Andi’s latest good news… a pregnancy announcement. Be sure to look through all their photos, you do not want to miss the most EPIC pregnancy announcement EVER! We promise it will definitely be worth your time. When trying for a smiling, happy, excited photo complete with their little family and a letter board announcement poor Owen was just having a time. We later found out he wasn’t feeling well but for photo purposes his mini meltdown was just hilarious. His parents also thought it was funny and thus the best baby announcement ever was created lol!

Jimmy and Andi, it has been amazing to get to know you and be a part of BIG moments in your life. Thank you for thinking of us when planning this amazing gift for your family. We had such a great time getting to know them and helping you to break your wonderful news! We will be praying for you and will be excitedly waiting to see what the Lord will do with you in your new endeavor!

What is a photographer’s blog post without photos, right?! As always here are of our favorite images from our session with The Carter Family

FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY CHEYENNE WYLove it when clients really take advantage of their portrait sessions by including multiple families and generations. We all know that as we grow as families the times when we are all together are sometimes few and far in between. In this ONE session we photographed their entire family, each smaller family as well as Grandpa and Grandma with the littles!
FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY CHEYENNE WYWhen looking for family photography Cheyenne WY makes it tough. We have that Wyoming wind that we are all familiar with and it takes a bit longer for the weather to turn nice. So for their session we headed south to Fort Collins, CO and shot at one of our favorite locations.
FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY CHEYENNE WYIsn’t Owen adorable. Love how brave he is sitting in his Dad’s lap giving us his best camera smile. We always love our time with him and his sweet family.
FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY CHEYENNE WYIsn’t his spiky hair absolutely adorable? Love it when little ones get lost in the moment with their Moms and Dads. What a sweet moment.
FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY CHEYENNE WYFor family photography Cheyenne WY is gorgeous. We wanted to keep some of this Wyoming feel for their session even though we needed to head south. Tall golden rod grasses and yellow sage brush looked so authentically WY for sure.
FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY CHEYENNE WYOften times with little ones we let them play and roam then just follow them with a zoom lens. They forget that we are there, become lost in their environment and it is then that we are able to really capture them as they are. We love to get down to their level and shoot through interesting parts of the environment to make their portraits unique and interesting!
FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY CHEYENNE WYLove this silhouette that Rick captured. The sagebrush along the bottom makes it so interesting and one handed? That’s super impressive, right?!
FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY CHEYENNE WYLove this Aunt photo, love even more that she was totally up to the task of not only wrangling these munchkins but also holding them still while we took their photo lol.
FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY CHEYENNE WYBaby smiles are totally my favorite Wide open mouth gummy smiles caught on camera are just pure magic. Love how much fun he was having with his Dad here.
FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY CHEYENNE WYOften times when Rick and I photograph families we do have Mom or Dad in the frame with kiddos but we also really try to isolate on them as the main subject. Love how Owen is being shy here as he coyly smiles for our camera.
FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY CHEYENNE WYBeautiful family picture amidst the reeds and tall grasses. For family photography Cheyenne WY has these as well which was totally why we were drawn to this spot!
FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY CHEYENNE WYRick and I have a family of four. Ourselves and our son and daughter. We know one day they will be grown and the times with our little family will be through as we add in spouses, new babies etc. I thought it was really sweet that their Mom wanted a photo of just them and their kiddos.
