SENIOR PICTURES LARAMIE | Tony

When you specialize in senior pictures Laramie is such a beautiful place to photograph! We look forward to senior photo season every year and are always so fortunate to have amazing senior clients who are looking for something special and unique. This was definitely the case when we received a phone call from Tony’s Mom Peggy. She told us about her son and how he had a few concepts he was interested in including and even an awesome location! We always try to find out what kind of a feel our portrait clients are looking for. We ask them if they want city, urban downtown etc… Perhaps they are more mountains, rivers and trees kind of clients. In Tony’s case he was both. He really loved the cool artwork and murals that Downtown Laramie has become known for. He also loved the way the trees in Centennial just GLOW when God blesses us with gorgeous sunshine for sessions.

We started off his session in a location of his choosing. Suggesting a location for your photograph can be tough. As photographers we think about many things when someone asks for a SPECIFIC location. Will it be in the right direction for light, is it something that we find interesting and can shoot well and lastly does it have more than one look meaning we can be creative with the location to get multiple looks and feels for a session. Turns out Tony is ALSO into photography and in suggesting a specific location he totally knocked it out of the park. The first half of his session was photographed on a rustic old bridge in the mountains just outside of Centennial, WY. God DID bless us with gorgeous warm sunlight

After working in Centennial for the mountain feel Tony asked for we did a quick outfit change and headed downtown. For senior pictures Laramie is so unique with opportunities for backgrounds. We scouted all of the murals in downtown Laramie and they were all so unique and gorgeous. Some were feminine, some were more masculine but there was one mural in particular that just totally caught our eye for his session. The Speedgoat mural by Travis Ivey is colorful, masculine and SO Wyoming. We loved how it was a perfect fit for Tony’s eclectic shirt choice and vintage demin jacket. Again we had many photo of him looking at the camera but we also spent some time playing with a more photo journalistic style. We had Tony look out of the frame, look down at his feel and running his fingers through his hair. Tony is such a cool guy and we wanted to show that in his senior photos.

For senior pictures Laramie is by far our favorite city. Senior photos are some of our favorite things to photograph. They show so much personality and really are such a great snapshot into this moment in their life. Downtown isn’t a new request for locations, we even had another girl in Tony’s graduating class that asked for graffiti. But the things that Tony incorporated into his session are so him, so unlike any other graduating senior. Thank you for trusting us with your vision. Thank you for not giving up when it was gale force winds and always having such an amazing attitude. We absolutely loved working with you and cannot wait to see the amazing things in store for your future!

Here are a few of our faves from Tony’s session:
SENIOR PICTURES LARAMIE LOVE THE LIGHT in this photo. Tony is such a confident guy love how he rocked multiple looks for his session. Here is something you may not know, he chose all of his outfits. This might sound normal but so often guys aren’t super pumped about having photos taken and they do it more out of obligation. Its often parents or sisters who make clothing choices. This was not the case in Tony’s session he was all about his senior pictures!
SENIOR PICTURES LARAMIE WYIsn’t this so classic? Makes me thing of James Dean or some other old time heart throb photographed in a city scene. Loved the jean jacket too, so stylish and unique!
SENIOR PICTURES LARAMIE WYThere was this gorgeous rustic wooden bridge just outside of Centennial. When photographing senior pictures Laramie is lacking when it comes to natural mountain backgrounds. It was fun to drive out of town a bit to get that feeling for Tony’s set!
SENIOR PICTURES LARAMIE WYFor senior pictures Laramie is DEFINITELY blessed when it comes to cool murals and downtown artwork. This one is so awesome with all the colors and super masculine with the brick. We knew when we saw it we just HAD to include it!
SENIOR PICTURES LARAMIE WYIts interesting we definitely take many smiling facing the camera shots but lately we have been mixing in a lot more senior or looking out of the frame shots. We think this makes for not only an artistic feel but also incorporates other aspects of our subjects personalities as well. Tony is super cool here being serene and somewhat serious!
SENIOR PICTURES LARAMIE WYWhen you look at local senior pictures Laramie has a lot of the walking bridge and the university. We were happy to get to mix in some urban with some GORGEOUS natural scenery as well. This session was photographed in Laramie and also included some locations out of town just outside of Centennial, WY.
SENIOR PICTURES LARAMIE WYOk so now we’ve got that SUPER cool mural and that SUPER cool jean jacket. This can’t help but be a instant classic right? Interesting story… Tony’s Mom Peggy joined us for some of his session. She let us know that she preferred the classic, traditional mountain scenery that filled the first half of Tony’s session. Being the amazing Mom that she is however she knew that when Tony thought of his senior pictures he thought urban, cool, murals and artwork. She definitely supported him in his creative vision and let his wishes shine though, LOVE THAT!
SENIOR PICTURES LARAMIE WYThere is just something about a classic portrait, especially in black and white. What an amazing time in our seniors lives, soon they will be adults. Headed off to college, making their own decisions etc… Senior portraits are such a fantastic way to capture this moment in time.
