vendors we ♥ | 6 grand ~ live wedding band in wyoming

We get asked for recommendation on DJ’s ALL THE TIME. People want the music at their wedding to be modern. They think about the fine line that exists when you hand someone a mic and place them in charge of your event. Will they do a good job keeping guests engaged and the events flowing? Will they talk TOO much and not let people enjoy their night. Will they play the right kind of music? I think overall couples are looking for someone professional who will MC their event while entertaining guests in a way that is memorable. What if besides being memorable, your wedding MC could also be unique, personal, creative and one of the BEST VENDOR DECISIONS you make for your wedding? This is the category we would place Cheyenne based band ‘6 Grand’ in. Not only have we heard amazing things about them but we also got to see them in action for ourselves this past wedding season. They kept the night moving along at a great pace, interacted with guests, not only played but also LEARNED a custom first dance song and made their night absolutely unforgettable. If you are looking for someone awesome to handle music at your wedding look no further! Here are their answers to our interview questions, what a great way to get to know them a bit better:

Who are the members of 6 Grand?

6 Grand was formed by 6 friends who love music, love to perform and love having a good time.  While we’re not planning on quitting our day jobs (yet!) we are very committed to playing music that allows people to have fun and enjoy a great night out.

Bob Damey – Keyboards and lead vocals.  Worship Director at Cheyenne Hills Church, originally from Denver, CO

Devin Smith – Drums and vocals. Devin is a Cheyenne native, he owns DDS Inc. in Cheyenne

JP Fluellen – Guitar and vocals – He’s the “Rockin Realtor” of Cheyenne, originally from North Dakota

Misty Savage – Lead Vocals.  Comes from Dallas, TX and is employed by Climb Wyoming

Rob Housman – Bass guitar.  From Chicago, IL- Community Pastor at Cheyenne Hills Church

Bill Snow – Guitar and vocals – Cheyenne native – Junior High science teacher
How did you decide on your band name?

6000 ft. is the approx. elevation of Cheyenne, WY- the place where all of our paths/lives converged nearly 10 years ago.
What do you remember most about the very first gig you ever played?

It was a private party in friends’ unfinished basement, and it felt like and was decorated like a cool downtown nightclub.
How important in your opinion is hiring good wedding photographer when planning a wedding?

Probably the single most important entity, they are hired to capture the moment of a life event.
What do you enjoy about playing at weddings?

The energy of family and friends gathered together.
Why should a newly engaged couple invest in a live band for their big day?

A fun live band that interacts with the people can create some really fun memories for both the couple and their family and friends.  We have a blast when playing and hope that it rubs off onto the people who are there to celebrate such a special day.
What do you feel is the main thing that differentiates you from other live music choices in our area?

Our diversity of music and the presentation of the music is what sets us apart. Folks that come to our events or shows tend to stay for the entire time, often because they “wanted to see what was going to happen next”.
