WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER WORKSHOP | Glen Eyrie Castle (Colorado)

‘RETREAT – GLEN EYRIE CASTLE’  (Wedding Photographer Workshop)

wedding photographer workshop

Hosting a comprehensive wedding photographer workshop and helping those new to the wedding photography industry has always been something that is really important to us. We love teaching and especially love seeing people grow and improve their photography skills. We have always wanted to create a wedding photographer workshop that is all about substance and real instruction, creating a sense of community over competition, we offer everything you need, we can also reserve a limousine for your wedding choice and do a special photoshoot.

Stephanie and I have been blessed to have had the opportunity to photograph several hundred weddings over the last 10 years. We have each had the honor and pressure of being the primary photographer at hundreds of weddings as well. The experience and confidence that we have gained from getting to photograph so many amazing weddings has been invaluable. But, this wasn’t always the case. I remember standing at my very first wedding and being SO nervous. I remember being afraid that I would constantly get in the way. What should I even be taking pictures of? I was honestly terrified that I might be in the wrong place at the wrong time and miss something amazing happening. Even worse, what if I didn’t get a good shot of an important event like the first kiss? Wedding days are often fast paced, constantly moving and ever changing events. For many of us when we first begin our careers, photographing a wedding can feel a bit like drinking through a fire hose. It can feel like organized chaos. Photographing a wedding can also be intimidating if you haven’t had much experience. One day Stephanie had an idea; what if we could help other photographers by sharing all of the knowledge we have gained over the years by hosting a wedding photographer workshop? We’ve had so many aspiring photographers reach out and contact us and ask about wedding photography. That really helped us realize that many people want to learn. Many people truly do care about improving their individual photography skills and learning how to photograph a wedding. People care about getting better, there just aren’t many resources to help with that…until now. Introducing, RETREAT Wedding Workshops.

“Words really can’t do justice for the experience I had at Retreat. I mean, c’mon. Pictures are worth a thousand words and I took close to a thousand! It was an incredible opportunity to network with other people that are passionate about recording memories and making art, as well as gain such valuable skills that I didn’t even realize I was searching for. The classroom session presented the content in such an engaging way and the hands on live-shoot was nothing short of empowering. I came away from Retreat feeling like I had quality material to build my portfolio with, a better understanding of how to capture all aspects of a wedding, and new friends that are in my corner. Definitely recommend this workshop for anyone ready to take it to the next level!”

When Stephanie and I first visited the Glen Eyrie Castle, we immediately knew it was the PERFECT location for our next wedding photographer workshop. It’s not only an amazing property but the castle itself is breathtaking. Glen Eyrie is an English style castle that was built in 1871 by General William Palmer (the founder of Colorado Springs). This incredible castle was his and his wife’s dream home and it is nestled in the northwest foothills of Colorado Springs, just north of Garden of the Gods rock formation. It was obvious that the opportunity for our students to photograph a bride and groom AT A REAL CASTLE was something we couldn’t pass up for this wedding photographer workshop.

‘RETREAT – Glen Eyrie Castle’ is a Two Day Wedding Photography Workshop taking place on April 4th – April 5th, 2020 at the beautiful and historic Glen Eyrie Castle in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Stephanie and I will be sharing everything we have learned over the past decade as we deconstruct an entire wedding day and work closely with our students, step by step, navigating through every aspect of the wedding photography process. Day One of ‘RETREAT – Glen Eyrie Castle’ will begin with intense and incredibly important classroom sessions inside the castle as we deconstruct a wedding day on paper. After deconstructing the wedding in the classroom in the morning, Stephanie and I will ask students to grab their camera gear as we take a hands-on teaching approach and lead our students through photographing recreated, real life wedding events with a bride and groom throughout the amazing castle grounds. We will all spend the entire afternoon and early evening of Day One photographing the following wedding day events:
