Probably one of the NUMBER ONE questions Rick and I are asked when it comes to vendor recommendations is “Do you know any fantastic videographers?” The answer to this is always YES and always Jered and Jordan at lovebirdstudios. Rick and I are huge supporters of husband and wife creatives. Having BOTH the male and female perspective as well as the benefit of a husband and wife working dynamic is amazing when you ask someone to capture your story. We had the pleasure of working with lovebirdstudios for Kim & Jordan’s wedding at the always gorgeous Brookside Gardens in Berthoud CO. We meet a lot of videographers. A lot of them can be very intrusive when it comes to the couple, even worse we have seen so many of them fake moments for the wedding video. Our couples like their moments as real as they come and captured not created. Working with Jered and Jordan was a breeze and their finished product is timeless, breath taking and a perfect representation of this couples happy day. Here are their answers to a short interview followed by their wedding cinematography goodness!

How long have you been videographers?

We shot our first wedding in 2010, so we are entering our 4th wedding season!

Who or what got you started in the wedding industry?

We had a friend film our wedding in 2010, and we returned the favor later that year when he got married. We had no video background, but we found that we really liked it and had an eye for it. We continued to film weddings as a hobby in 2010, but it quickly turned into more than a hobby for us. By 2012, we had both quit our jobs to pursue video full-time, and have never looked back!

How would you describe your approach to cinematography?

We approach each wedding completely differently. As each of our couples are unique, we want each video to be unique, and our goal is to reflect the personality and style of each of our couples.

How did you decide on your company name?

Lovebirds were heavily incorporated into the theme of our wedding, so when we started filming weddings shortly after, we thought it was appropriate. And as husband and wife, we are total lovebirds in real life

What do you remember most about the very first wedding video you ever created?

We both remember being shocked at how challenging it was to capture everything that happens during a wedding day, and how tired we were afterward! It takes a lot 14 hour weddings to get in what we call “wedding shape”!

What is your favorite part of being a videographer?

We love the creative challenge that each wedding presents. We love finding the unique characteristics that each couple brings, and trying to incorporate as much of their story into each video as possible.

What do you find to be the most challenging part of your job?

It is so hard to say no to couples when we have already booked a date. We want to say yes to everyone, but there are only so many weekends in the year.

Where would be your dream destination wedding?

We love to travel, and have been fortunate to film in many different locations, but our dream would be to film a wedding in Europe, preferably anywhere in France.

Where do you find inspiration?

We find a lot of inspiration in music. We love the process of paring the perfect song in the video, and many times interesting music can heavily influence the way we edit, which has the biggest impact on how the story is told.

How important in your opinion is hiring good wedding photographer when planning a wedding?

We call the Wedding photographers the “head coach” for the day. A great photographer doesn’t only take fantastic photos, but they keep the day flowing, and keep everyone moving in the right direction. So it is vital to hire a professional, experienced photographer.

Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

5 years from now, we hope to still be filming weddings, and hopefully telling love stories all over the world!

What is your favorite movie of all time?

Jered and I both love the “Before” Trilogy. (Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Before Midnight). These films capture the way a relationship changes over time in a way that no other film or series of films has come close to.

What is one food that you absolutely cannot live without?

There is a restaurant in St. Louis called Russell’s (http://russellscafe.com/macklind-menu/), and we love every item on the menu. But if we had to pick just one thing, it would be their Sunday brunch biscuits with homemade blackberry jam. OMG, they are the best thing ever.

Why should a newly engaged couple invest in a creative and professionally filmed video from their big day?

Photos are so important, but they only tell half of the story. Imagine having a beautiful photo print on the wall of your home, and being able to show your children the moment that photo was taken in a beautiful film. Or the moment Dad saw Mom in her dress, and the words he said to her as they hugged. We love capturing those moments that will live forever.

What do you feel is the main thing that differentiates you from other videographers?

Not only do we film weddings, we also produce all kinds of other films. (www.pounds-media.com) Everything from television shows and television commercials to web videos, our crew members have worked on Emmy award winning projects, and these experiences set us apart from most other videographers, and add a level of professionalism to the wedding day experience that is hard to find in our field.
