LAKE MARIE WEDDING PHOTOS | Jenn & Cody

Anytime you get a request for Lake Marie wedding photos, you just know you are in for a treat! What we didn’t know at the time however was that Jenn & Cody were so incredibly cool that they had a unique and interesting twist up their sleeve when it came to their engagement session! Cody is an avid fisherman and fishing is an activity that their family enjoys doing together. We quickly threw everything we knew about traditional Lake Marie wedding photos out the window and got ready for something a little more EPIC!

Rick and I aren’t big on ‘saving the best for last’, so we started out their engagement session by breaking out the fishing poles! Anyone who has taken wedding photos at Lake Marie knows that there are no lack of GORGEOUS places to photograph there. It can however be tricky to avoid having other people in your photos since it is one of the most popular summertime fishing spots. Rick and I were thrilled to find a quiet, sun drenched cove for these two to fish side by side. We encouraged them to try to forget we were there and just enjoy being in the moment with each other.

Immediately we became aware of how these two are super playful and let us tell you SUPER COMPETITIVE lol! We joked back and forth about who would catch the first fish and even thought about possibly photographing our first live trout ring shot! Wanting to vary our angles a bit I suggested that they switch sides putting Jenn right in the middle of all that gorgeous light. No sooner did we switch then, FISH ON! Cody caught the first fish (although I feel like if Jenn were here she would totally remind you it was in HER spot lol).

We decided against getting Jenn’s engagement ring fishy and instead chose to photograph it on her favorite fly. Fishing for part of their session was so unique and out of the box. It allowed us to capture real, authentic, photo journalistic moments of these two as they really are. You really couldn’t have asked for a better experience as someone who takes Lake Marie wedding photos often! These were so different!

From there we headed to the top of the Snowy Mountain Range, where we were surrounded by wildflowers. These were so special though in that they filled our frames with a beautiful lilac color, not something you typically see up there. We used just about every ounce of sunshine God blessed us with exploring that gorgeous field. I love many of our photos from this session because of composition or artistry that came from Rick or myself. What I love even MORE however are the in between moments we captured with these two when they forgot we were there. Crinkled noses, faces close in cuddling and I am sure there was a little bit of taunting from Cody about how he caught the first fish!

Jenn & Cody, than you for being YOU and wanting that to come across in your photos. We had such a blast with you and are thankful that you trusted us enough to share your crazy idea!
